Lieutenants Rudolf Hrubec and Václav Kindl with their English girl-friends. Rudolf Hrubec was the life and soul of the traning course for Czechoslovak parachutists. He was a trainer, extremely proud of his role; an outstanding jumper, who tirelessly worked on parachute drops and their realization. He himself was sent on Operation SILICA in northern Italy in 1944 to contact soldiers of the Protectorate Governmental Army and persuade them to take up arms against the Nazis. However, the plane which transported him and others crashed and the mission was ended prematurely. Rudolf Hrubec did not survive this mission.
